Closing 2019, I gave a lecture on Fairness, Accountability, Confidentiality and Transparency in Information Retrieval (FACT-IR), at University of Stavanger.

In an unprecedented era of information consumption on a steady basis in almost every context of our lives, the need for responsible information retrieval systems arises from more and more evident problems nowadays, such as unfair information access and representation, misinformation and polarization in news, collection of personal data, and opaque decision making. This lecture aims to shed some light on the challenges for developing fair, accountable, confidential and transparent IR systems.
